We began by establishing what attributes make a great hub:\u003c\/p\u003e\r\n\u003cul\u003e\r\n\u003cli\u003eRolling Efficiency\u003c\/li\u003e\r\n\u003cli\u003eBearing and Hub Shell Durability\u003c\/li\u003e\r\n\u003cli\u003eOptimized Weight\u003c\/li\u003e\r\n\u003cli\u003eEase of Service\u003c\/li\u003e\r\n\u003cli\u003eOptions and Compatibility\u003c\/li\u003e\r\n\u003c\/ul\u003e\r\n\u003cp\u003eOur next step was ride testing in all five Minnesota seasons: Spring, Summer, Fall, Winter, and Salt Season (IYKYK). We benchmarked the performance of what was available in the market, including specialty hubs designed for more niche applications.\u003c\/p\u003e\r\n\u003cp\u003eWe saw tradeoffs in designs that had an imbalance in our benchmark criteria. If a hub is too light you begin to impact axle, drive system, and hub shell durability. Certain drive systems can reduce bearing life, and how easy is a hub to live with and service? With this data, we were able to see a clear path forward. Once we had established a clear benchmark, we set to engineering.\u003c\/p\u003e\r\n\u003cp\u003eWe discovered that the \u003cstrong\u003eENVE Innerdrive System\u003c\/strong\u003e not only hit our benchmark targets, it excelled in each category and gave us the balance we were looking for. At this point, we utilised our network of ride testers and athletes around the world to pressure test and fine tune our design. The result is a \u003cstrong\u003ebalanced hub\u003c\/strong\u003e that is \u003cstrong\u003eoptimised for pure performance \u003c\/strong\u003eand\u003cstrong\u003e extreme durability\u003c\/strong\u003e, with a beautifully machined hub shell that is \u003cstrong\u003eeasy to service\u003c\/strong\u003e and configure to suit a wide range of rider preferences. The \u003cstrong\u003eInnerdrive\u003c\/strong\u003e internals provide \u003cstrong\u003ehigh rolling efficiency, prolonged bearing life, \u003c\/strong\u003eand\u003cstrong\u003e immediate, zero flex engagement\u003c\/strong\u003e. Bearing preload is optimized and set during hub assembly (and during repeat tear down and re-assembly during service) and dynamically adjusts over the life of the hub. Simply torque the hub to spec. The larger 42mm diameter drive rings allow for higher engagement tooth counts without sacrificing durability. This is paired with the \u003cstrong\u003ePerfect Preload\u003c\/strong\u003e system which delivers tool-free, adjustment-free preload on the hub internals for prolonged bearing life, minimal maintenance, and reduced drag. \u003c\/p\u003e\r\n\u003cp\u003eWolf Tooth Hubs require \u003cstrong\u003eno special tools\u003c\/strong\u003e for maintenance, and our refined hub geometry incorporates many features that make living with and servicing our hubs easy. Standardised bearing sizes are used across front and rear hubs. Riders can quickly and easily swap ratchets for customised engagement, and a circlip holds the oversized steel ratchets in place ensuring your freehub and ratchets won't fall out during trailside or shop maintenance.
